Living Waters for the World is the global mission resource of the Synod of Living Waters (Presbyterian Church USA).
Living Waters for the World's Mission is to serve as a resource to churches of all denominations, civic organizations and others in mission, enabling them to provide clean water to their partners in need.
Living Waters for the World trains and equips mission teams to share the gift of clean, sustainable water to communities in need through:
Placement of community-based water treatment systems that are simple, sustainable and affordable
Emphasis on strong partnership development between those providing and those receiving the water treatment system.
Emphasis on a ‘train the trainer’ model for installing and maintaining the water treatment system and for leading ongoing health and hygiene education.
Our Journey with Living Waters for the World
First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville, TN has teamed with Mt. Olives Usumatlán, Guatemala so that the people of Usumatlán will have affordable clean water.
In January of 2009 a team from FPC Shelbyville traveled to Guatemala to teach the people of Usumatlán how to install and sustain their clean water system, train the teachers of the community to lead health and hygiene classes and build relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ. Also, on this trip we made a covenant with Aldea San José, Teculután, Zacapa, Guatemala.
In July 2009 another team from FPC Shelbyville traveled to Guatemala to teach the people of San Jose how to install and sustain their clean water system, train the teachers of the community to lead health and hygiene classes and build relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ.
As of June 2010 we have partnered with two churches in Guatemala and installed two clean water systems providing clean water for God's children in need. These two relationships have proven to be much more a blessing to our congregation and our hearts than our brothers and sisters in Christ in these two beautiful christian communities in Guatemala.
